March 2006 - Honda has announced the re-launch of its highly successful Honda Jazz.
Under pressure from the remarkable and competitively priced New 2006 Civic, Honda Australia has taken the Jazz’s mid-life facelift as opportunity to relocate supply to Thailand - a move which had recently given the Australian market the most competitive and well featured Civic ever.
When the new Civic range was launched in March, the specification and keen pricing had observers wondering whether the Civic was crowding the pricing point of the Jazz. When looking at both cars as options, many of our clients chose the Civic as excellent value for money.
If the situation remained for long it was looking like the Jazz was going to be losing market share to its big brother (a cardinal sin in marketing/sales theory). Shortly after, whispers in Honda ranks reached us about an anticipated update for the Jazz. Rumour spread about a decision by Honda Australia to take advantage of the timing of the update, the recognised build quality of the Thai production plant and the free trade agreement recently made between our two countries.
Within weeks, the rumours were proven true and a new model was on the docks. The new Jazz (although very similar in appearance) comes with some great improvements.
